Norwegian duo Röyksopp has been a favorite of mine when it comes to catchy electronic tracks. Their new track features fellow Norwegian, Susanne Sundfør, on vocals. I am a big fan of movie soundtracks, and I first heard her on a track she did with M83 for the Tom Cruise movie Oblivion. Awesome track. Lackluster movie. I looked into her previous work and fell in love. She is like a Scandinavian version of London Grammar or Indiana. I still can’t figure out why a British band is named after a Midwestern state…
Anyway, this new Röyksopp track was taken to new heights, or should I say lows, by the dark and brooding sounds of Yotto. The Finnish producer really completes the Nordic vibes.
Above & Beyond just announced the location for their next milestone show. It will be at The Gorge Amphitheater overlooking the Columbia River in Washington. Also of note is that this will be the first weekend long Group Therapy! Bring your tents!
To get you excited. Here are a few new releases from Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats.
Above & Beyond – 1001
ilan Bluestone – Malacosta
Myon feat. Alissa Feudo – Omen In The Rain (Myon Club Mix)
Dirty South feat. ANIMA! – I Swear
Here is a new release from SNBRN who, as the name implies, is a trop house mastermind. After that I’ve included a new track from a trance legend, Paul Oakenfold. He is still going strong and staying true to his roots. His new release has that classic trance sound but sounds fresh and crisp. 2:16 onward is euphoric.
I don’t think either of these tracks are “must haves” or necessarily memorable, but their juxtaposition shows the breadth of EDM. Which do you prefer?
